Privacy Policy

Short version: your screenshots never leave your device. We can’t see them, because they’re never sent anywhere.

What we collect

Your images: nothing. Backfrey composes screenshots entirely in your browser, on your machine, using the HTML canvas. Your images are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server. The tool works offline for exactly this reason.

Web browsing activity: nothing. Backfrey does not read the pages you visit, runs no content scripts, and requests no broad access to websites. The “capture this tab” feature uses the activeTab permission, which only grants a one-time image of the current tab when you click it.

Account & personal data: none. There is no sign-up and no account. We don’t collect your name, email, location, or browsing history, and we use no analytics or trackers inside the extension.

The only data that leaves your device

If you buy Pro, the extension sends your license key (not your images, and no personal data) to our payments provider, Lemon Squeezy, to validate it. This is the single network request Backfrey makes, and it is sent over a secure HTTPS connection. After activation, your license is cached locally and works offline.

How data is stored

Your settings and your Pro license key are stored locally on your device using the browser’s extension storage — they never leave your machine except for the license check above. Nothing is stored on our servers.

Data retention & your control

Because the only data we hold is stored locally, you are in full control: removing the extension (or clearing its storage) deletes your settings and cached license from your device. To deactivate a license or request deletion of any purchase record held by our payments provider, email tezaapps@gmail.com.

We never sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or transfer your data to third parties, and we never use it for advertising. The only third party involved is Lemon Squeezy, our merchant of record, which processes your payment and license — see their privacy policy. We receive only what’s needed to issue and validate your license.

Limited Use

Backfrey’s use of information received from Google APIs and any user data adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Backfrey does not collect or transmit your personal or sensitive data or web browsing activity; all image processing happens locally on your device.

Permissions we request

The extension requests the minimum: activeTab (so “capture this tab” can grab the current page on your click) and storage (to save your settings and license locally). It requests no broad host access and runs no content scripts.
